Over the past twenty years, illusiography — i.e., scientific research into illusionism and performance magic — has developed along many different lines, from history to neuroscience. However, this research remains fragmented and marginalised. The current challenge is to demonstrate that illusionism constitutes an autonomous object of knowledge, capable of federating an international community of transdisciplinary researchers. The Magic Studies network aims to take up this challenge collectively.
