The issue opens with Enrique Jim\u00e9nez-Mart\u00ednez painting a clear picture of conjuring performances in Spain in the 1700s and early 1800s, focusing on the magic-lantern, pyrotechnic and Phantasmagoria spectacles of the time. Following up is the seventh installment of Pietro Micheli\u2019s Pinetti: New Discoveries article series, exploring Giuseppe Pinetti\u2019s continued legal struggles in eighteenth-century Europe. Reinhard M\u00fcller and Rainer Buland bring a new perspective to the great composer, Mozart \u2013 that of Mozart as a magician. By analyzing Mozart\u2019s notes, M\u00fcller and Buland have deduced some of the card tricks and number divinations that Mozart practiced, as well as where he may have learned them from.
